Description:
We are looking for innovative design solutions for a secure and user-friendly clasp system to attach a squirrel plush toy to the Whimsy Stick, a dog toy. The current method involves tying a Palomar knot, which can come undone and may be cumbersome for users to retie. The new system should be easy to use, reliable, and durable enough to withstand frequent use and the vigorous play of dogs.
Wants:
Evaluation CriteriaEase of Use: The system should be simple for users to attach and detach the plush toy without requiring complex steps.
Security: The clasp must hold the plush toy securely during play and not come undone unintentionally.
Durability: The materials and design should withstand repeated use and the stress from active dogs.
Cost-effectiveness: Consideration of production costs and material affordability without compromising quality.
Innovative Design: Creative and practical design solutions that stand out.
Don't Wants:
What I Don’t WantSolutions that are overly complex or require special tools to operate.
Designs that are not pet-friendly or pose any risk to pets.
Expensive materials that significantly increase production costs.
Ask for Sample:
Detailed CAD drawings or 3D models.
Description of materials and manufacturing process.
Prototype (if possible).
Software:
- AutoCAD
- SolidWorks
- Autodesk Fusion 360
Additional Information
Objective: Design a secure, user-friendly clasp system to attach a squirrel plush toy to the Whimsy Stick, ensuring ease of use, durability, and safety for dogs during play.Key Requirements:
Attachment System:
The clasp must facilitate easy attachment and detachment of the lure (squirrel plush toy) to the line and the line to the pole.
The line and clasp should ideally be one unit, allowing the user to change lures effortlessly.
The system should not be elastic but rather a fixed structure to ensure durability under pressure.
Material Considerations:
The material should be durable and safe for dogs, avoiding bulky metal carabiners that could add weight or harm the dog’s teeth.
Possible materials include polycarbonate or robust plastic, ensuring strength and longevity while being safe for pets.
The clasp mechanism must avoid custom tooling where possible to keep costs down, potentially using off-the-shelf components modified to fit the design needs.
Design Considerations:
The stick is manufactured with an eyelet at the end, as shown in the renders.
The clasp must integrate with this eyelet and the lures, which will also have an eyelet for easy attachment.
The design should allow for a range of play activities, including chasing, catching, and tugging. Therefore, the clasp must not disengage easily during these activities.
Additional Notes:
While a magnetic clasp system was previously considered, it was found to add too much weight and pose safety risks if swallowed by dogs. It also limited play options by disengaging during tugging.
The main goal is to ensure the clasp system enhances the play experience by being secure, easy to use, and durable under various play conditions.
Project Goals:
Provide a detailed design that balances quality, affordability, and safety.
Ensure the design is practical for both manufacturing and end-user applications.
Offer a superior play experience for both dogs and their owners.
Manufacturing and Assembly:
Consideration for manual assisted assembly using readily available components to avoid expensive custom tooling.
Ensure the clasp system can be easily produced and assembled while maintaining high safety and durability standards.

contest time change. i am complete my degine please open 1 day contest. not submit button show
Please have a look at entry Number: Twenty-Six; The product cost is less than $5.00; The design is a single piece of stainless steel coated with a silicon based protective covering while the add-on is of a threaded clasp mechanism to hold the Eyelet at the end of the Handle Rod. There is no knot to tie or untie and can be removed very easily with minimal to very minimal maintenance needed by the Pet Owner.
Thanks for the update, I&
;ll pass

As of today winners have been chosen. The winning design is a pre-braided kevlar double ended loupe, with one end attaching to a carabiner/swivel clasp, and the other end zip tied to the plush toy. The contest will run till the end. Other entries will be considered although there has been many entries up to this point and this seams like the best, and most financially viable solution. If you want to submit your idea, you are more than welcome to.
Hi, been going through the comment section and it don&
;t feel like a contest anymore. Are you taking entries till the last date ?

Hello all, thank you so much for your entries and ideas. Many were great idea, although just didn&
;t fit the guidelines of the proper solution. You efforts are much appreciated. The finalist have all been invited to a group chat. If you didn&
;t receive an invite, then I wish you all the best in your journeys. Have a great day!

Yes, I&
;m aware of Cad Crowds rules. I have actually messaged their support line to make sure it was okay. To my confusion, they offer a shared workspace and slack or skype is not necessary.

Hello, Sorry I will not join this workspace. By the way it is not allowed from cad crowd to contact out of the platform.
I hope you are familiar with the rules of cad crowd. already once my design was taken and passed on to another designer by the contest owner. that design won first prize. I don&
;t want that kind of nonsense anymore.

Hi, i just wanted to inform that i am ok with whatever others decide....But i heard that slack is good for collab and skyp for group calls. This way it will be a free setup. I agree to collaborate.. sooner we provide a good product, the sooner we get paid.. haha.
I would like to join the effort in creating a more innovative and cost effective solution by utilizing a workspace via skype preferred. My vote goes towards SKYPE;
Subject: Collaborative Workspace for Whimsy Stick Clasp System Development
Dear Applicants,
I hope this message finds you well. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for your innovative contributions and valuable insights into the Whimsy Stick clasp system project. Each of you has brought forth excellent ideas, and I believe that combining these ideas could lead to an even better solution.
To facilitate this, I propose creating a collaborative workspace where we can all communicate and refine the clasp system design together. If you are willing, I will set up a workspace via Slack or Skype where we can share ideas, discuss improvements, and integrate the best aspects of each proposal.
Here’s the plan:
Workspace Setup: I will create a Slack or Skype workspace dedicated to the Whimsy Stick clasp system project.
Collaboration: All participating designers can join the workspace to collaborate, share insights, and discuss potential improvements.
Prize Distribution: The final prize will be divided among the designers who contribute the most to the final, integrated design.
Your collaborative efforts will be crucial in developing a robust and effective clasp system that meets our requirements and exceeds user expectations. I am confident that by working together, we can achieve the best possible outcome.
Please let me know if you are interested in participating in this collaborative effort. If so, indicate your preferred platform (Slack or Skype), and I will set up the workspace accordingly.
Thank you once again for your hard work and creativity. I look forward to the possibility of working closely with all of you.
Best regards,
Chris Moran

A comment to all participants: Thank you all for your hard work and entries. I want to remind everyone that simplicity and cost-effectiveness in production are key aspects to consider. Utilizing parts that are already obtainable on the market is greatly appreciated. Additionally, it&
;s important to think about potential problems each different design could create during use and to pre-troubleshoot these issues. Looking forward to seeing more of your creative solutions.

The rope diameter is 2mm
The eyelet is approx. 1/2 cm or .5cm (see attachment image of it next to AA battery for reference)
Hello, could you provide the approximate dimension of the eyelet? I wanna run simulation to check whether or not the material is strong enough to withstand the pulling force of dogs, and I need to know the eyelet dimension so I can adjust my clamping system to be on the same size. Thank you!
Could you give a diameter for the hole in the eyelet?
Response to sherifelsheikh,
The line used is a kevlar kite line that will either be 2mm or 2.5mm
The line used is a kevlar kite line that will either be 2mm or 2.5mm
Hello, what is the rope diameter?
Attachment drawing added that should provide more clarity.

This challenge is to create a CAD file that I can use to 3D print the item. Would also love to have a few images that can be used for a presentation. Attached is a design that I created in Word
Utility knife
I am looking for a utility knife design where the blade can go from cutting, to scraping, without removing the blade from the handle.
The knife should preform like a normal utility knife when cutting. Then the blade edge would have to be fully exposed, and locked into a "T" shape with the handle, allowing the knife to scrape a flat surface.
The blade should be the standard, trapezoidal utility blade.
The blade would have to fold or slide into the handle when not in use.
Novel Naval Architecture and Retrofit Electric Marine Propulsion Systems
At Fluidity Marine, our mission is to develop sustainable and eco-friendly marine technologies that push the boundaries of performance, efficiency, and environmental responsibility. We strive to revolutionize the marine industry by creating innovative solutions that reduce environmental impact while improving performance and safety. Our goal is to lead the way towards a more sustainable future for the marine industry and promote responsible stewardship of our oceans and waterways.
For our initial fundraising efforts, we require some conceptual artwork of novel and theoretical designs for 3D Printed Hull designs across an array of hull types (Pontoon, Semi-Displacement, and Planing Hulls) all with modular electric motors and water jet, impeller based and rudderless propulsion. Dynamically deployed hydrofoil systems with integrated impellor jet systems are encouraged.
We have basic sketches of an array of designs attached to the project, but would appreciate extrapolation and creativity in so much as the designs are either:
1) Completely novel hull designs only possible with 3D printed manufacturing
2) Integrated flat nozzle water jet arrays without rudders that navigate based on flow control of jets on one side or the other.
3) Aftermarket Retrofit devices that can be attached to existing hulls to convert traditional hulls to electric propulsion.
4) Foiling Impeller Systems that extend on-demand from the hulls (integrated and aftermarket)
5) Solar and Wind generated energy systems integrated into the shade structures of the boats. Particularly Flexible Solar Cloth as Biminis, Gorlov Helical Turbines mounted horizontally on shade structures underneath rigid solar shade structures above them.
6) Automated Solar and Wind powered barges, docks, and other marine support structures.
Seed Deck Investment pitch attached with sketches for additional context.
African Food Packaging Machine (Manually operated)
I'm looking for someone who a can conceptualize, design, make 3D model and make animation of the packaging machine for an African traditional food packing method as shown in attached video. In which, for a single cycle we just have to put the leaves one on another in machine and feed the food somewhere so that it can be laid on to the leaves and then rest of the packaging process be carried out by machine itself while operated manually. The final packaging should look as close to the original hand packaging as possible. The machine should be manually operated and not electric one.
I NEED HELP.
I need help creating a sketch. I'm not a good drawer I need a drawing of a pulley A/C compressor. When the pulley AC compressor turns it runs normal. But when turned off a mechinal ball pushes up allowing the pulley belt to turn freely.
