Description:
We want to design an arm which can be mounted on a tripod as shown in the attached image. The total length of the arm is going to be 1.5m from pivot to end effector. For the movement of the joints please refer the other image. The total weight of the arm and the mechanism has to be less than 3kg. The payload is going to be less than 300 grams.Your job is to design the underlying mechanism which can drive this arm as smoothly as possible. The deliverables are going to be CAD of the mechanism and BOM and anything else which will be required to prototype the arm.
The project will only begin with this contest and the designer will be hired for continuation of the project.
Wants:
The evaluation criteria will be:1. Number of components used
2. Simplicity of the mechanism
3. Reliability of the mechanism
4. Material used
5. Aesthetics
Don't Wants:
We do not want renders or creative visualisations.

Is there any update about the contest?
I&
;m working on it, I will submit my design soon.

Are available to design a mechanism which fully driven by pneumatic circuit?
Hey, can you provide more details on the end effecter&
;s use and what could be the source of arm movement like motors, mechanical links etc?

Hi @Lucian and IBM Resereach. Thankyou for extend this contest. But if possible, as engineering design, this is need more compex information. All of designer got less information. so we are a bit confused where we have to go. what type of motor you are using for. this is will impact the total weight. as you know we are using random motor for make the arm move. we have to know where we go, what part that we use. so we design base what you are using, not what we want because this is your project. so we are actually follow your requirment. please understand this. im really happy if i can do contribution on your project. but i need more design requirment.
Thankyou all. Keep safe right.
Best

Hi all,
We talked to the client and extended the contest a few more weeks so you can come up with more ideas, so he could choose a winner at the end of the contest.
He will give more feedback on why some of the entries do not meet the requirements.
Thanks,
Lucian

@Walxo As I said earlier, we were looking for innovative ideas and not copy-pasted ones. We did not get what we were expecting.
@Sam_Mayo Eng. Sorry. we had already extended it so can&
;t extend more.

Could you add five more days for those of us who didn&
;t participate?

To IBG Researsh.Gents,You don&
;t want genius ideas and don&
;t know what you want. This case is precedent in Cad Crowd community.

@Sava I understand that it can be heartbreaking. All the efforts going in vain. I tried making all the designs open but I am not able to because Cadcrowd doesn&
;t allow me. We were really hoping to get some really innovative ideas from the community but we failed. @Paulf Thank you for great suggestion. We tried to be clear with all our requirements and constraints in the description and we were also actively clearing doubts in comments and through messages, so that we can have a really design. Please understand that we also invested a lot of time and efforts running the contest and it is hard on us also, not getting something that we had hoped for.

Dear IBG Research, thank you for organizing the contest. I would like to suggest for next time to minimize time and effort consuming issues, please specify more requirements. The less precise the requirement, the more variance you will find in your results. Plus if the award was already mentioned, then the rule of winner selection should be applied, otherwise you will lose the credibility.
OK, why you don&
;t make the entries to be visible - let us see them! All this conspiracy is so boring - blind projects all the time... If no one wins let&
;s just learn something from each other.

Thank you all for your great efforts. We evaluated all the entries but we did not find most of the entries acceptable. The reason could be either we did not give enough time or the explanation was not clear. Hopefully, we will be able to work together next time.
All the best for your future.
All the best for your future.
would be possible to extend the contest two days. I am working on the design.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Do we need to select actuator(Motors, sensors, Gear box) etc??
If so what is the required accuracy and speed for the system.??
If so what is the required accuracy and speed for the system.??
@RamaKD Identical is preferred but it can be different.
must both arm have the same length? or can it be different?
Thanks for extending the deadline
Has the dead line been extended?

Hook Design for SNUZR: The World's First Toilet Stall Hammock
Looking for an engineer who can design a wall grappling hook that can suspend a hanging chair hammock between two partition walls in a toilet stall. The chair hammock has 4 straps which are attached to 4 identical wall hooks affixed at the top of the toilet stall partition. The hook must be able to hold securely in place as load weight is gradually applied. The typical user will install the hammock as follows: attach hooks on the side partition walls of the toilet stall - towards the front and back of stall and on both sides, attach hammock straps onto the hook, sits down on the hammock and if necessary get back up to adjust straps to ideal chair height and position. Previous designs of the hook did not stay in place and slid towards the centre of the wall due to side torque as weight was applied via the straps at roughly 45 degree angles (which also damaged or marked up the walls). We need a rockstar engineer who can solve this design challenge with a sense of humour.
Roller Mop
This is for a new mop invention. I was able to make a somewhat functioning scaled model of just the internal mechanisms as seen in the attached video.
Taking from the carpet sweeper seen here: http://bit.ly/32vqkGF, I want it to have 3 sponge rollers that spin in alternate directions at an accelerated speed (3:1) so that when it is pushed across the floor, the sponge rollers spin to mop up a mess.
I used gear pullies to spin the rollers, however, I am open to any kind of gears based on your expertise for efficiency, durability, efficacy, and cost of goods. This will be a retail product and I would like to keep the price competitive with sweepers.
Please provide the following:
- Completed product with retail-ready design
- Full size (similar to the carpet sweeper)
- Rollers should have push pin or equivalent to easily pop rollers in and out (they will be replenishments with a variety of roller options (i.e. brillow, sponge, brush, shammy, etc.)
- It should break down to fit into a retail box, again similar to the carpet sweeper link provided.
- Rollers are 1" diameter
- Wheels are 2"

Mechanical SolidWorks CAD Project
We are looking for a process diagram and a solidworks drawing of a complete pump station. All of the detailed submittal sheets will be emailed. A complete understanding of mechanical equipment will be needed in order to complete these drawings. Please feel free to ask questions. Examples can be provided.
For this Job the pump station must fit underneath the cooling tower. We are providing the cooling tower stand as well. The height of the stand will be defined by the tank height along with the cooling tower return line (bottom outlet) being routed into the top of the tank. The pump station can extend outside of the cooling tower stand in the Length dimension, but must fit in within the Width.
We would like to identify a couple of resources to work with long-term on multiple projects. Let me know if interested and I'll send the submittal sheets so you can provide an accurate quote.
Thanks,
Jason
